Feiyu Theater was founded in the spring of 2015 at Stanford University by a group of Chinese students passionate about dramatic arts. Originally launched as the first Chinese-language theater organization on the Stanford campus, Feiyu has since grown beyond its origins and is no longer a student organization.
Today, Feiyu Theater operates as an independent, nonprofit Chinese-language theater company, and has become one of the most influential cultural institutions of its kind in the San Francisco Bay Area.
At Feiyu, we believe in the power of theater to create another world beyond the routine and pressures of everyday life. We bring to the stage the complexities of human experience—life's conflicts, moral dilemmas, philosophical depths, and the unpredictable turns of fate. Through our productions, audiences and artists alike are invited to explore diverse lives, share compelling stories, and rediscover the selves often hidden beneath the noise of daily living.
Our mission is to cultivate Chinese-language performing arts, foster cross-cultural dialogue, and provide a creative home for individuals who believe in the transformative force of storytelling.
